About Us

The Old Time Hockey League (OTHL) was founded in the mid-2000's by a group of boyhood friends from Applewood (Mississauga) who desired to play hockey where fun and camaraderie are key to a competitive but clean league.

We're dedicated to you and to the game.

Our Mission:

The Old Time Hockey League was founded with a single goal: to offer safe, fun, competitive adult hockey to anyone desiring to play that fits our culture. Our league strives to provide a structure that’s conducive to meeting this goal of fair and safe play. Each year, our committee reviews and evaluates current league rules and procedures to ensure we are offering the best and safest experience possible for each player.

Team Formation:

Players are drafted every year by 4 new captains that are regularly rotated through the years. We aim to make teams balanced based on skill level to create teams of even strength, while considering guys that also want to play together, in particular if they are new. However, we also have a responsibility to make games fair and competitive. Therefore, we reserve the right to move players between teams, if necessary.

Our Facility:

Our facility is a state-of-the-art ice facility run by Canlan Icesports, Oakville

The Old Timers Hockey League Gentlemen’s Agreement

We all have somewhere to be tomorrow…

This Gentlemen’s Agreement identifies the standard of behaviour which is expected of all Old Time Hockey League (“OTHL”) members and participants involved in OTHL activities and events.

The OTHL is committed to providing an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect. Participants of the OTHL shall conduct themselves at all times in a manner consistent with the values of the OTHL which include integrity, fun and mutual respect in a semi-competitive environment.

During the course of all OTHL activities, members shall avoid behaviour which brings the OTHL or the sport of hockey into disrepute.

Members and participants of the OTHL shall not engage in any activity or behaviour which interferes with competition, or with any player or team's preparation for competition, or which endangers the safety of others.

Members of the OTHL shall refrain from comments or behaviours, which are disrespectful, offensive, abusive, racist or sexist. In particular, behaviour, which constitutes harassment, abuse or bullying, will not be tolerated, including and especially through email and/or other social media avenues.

Failure to comply with this Gentlemen’s Agreement may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to, the loss or suspension of certain or all privileges, both present and future.

Should you have a concern regarding anything within the OTHL, including but not limited to opponents, teammates, and officials, please bring your concern forward to John Dinner – he can be reached at johndinner@hotmail.com . Please bring concerns forward at the earliest possible moment in order that it can be dealt with prior to the beginning of the next week’s games.

We adhere to the rules and regulations of the Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL) and the decisions of on-ice officials will be supported in the run of the game. However, should there be cause to further express opinions regarding a specific incident, please bring your concerns to John Dinner – johndinner@hotmail.com – who will ensure your side is heard and/or tell you to shut up.

With the support of the OTHL Committee, the decisions of John Dinner regarding any disciplinary action will be final.

We want to maximize the enjoyment and opportunity of playing together every Wednesday night and it is the expectation of all OTHL participants to ensure that happens.

Peace,

John Dinner

The Dean of Discipline
